In the Business workshop the students participated in hands-on activities designed to improve their ability to interact with customers, coworkers and their peers. Students got on their feet and practiced and took part in a rang of hands-on, interactive exercises. Students are able to now define customer services, describe how to work with customers, know methods to effectively communicate and demonstrate proper email etiquette. With having to go online the students now had to learn how to become active listeners and strong speakers with a set of activities that range from discussions, and self reflection and use their social media skills and non-verbal communication as ways that people communicate with each other.
We had to adjust to learning online but the students did a great job with the lessons, group activities, communication through google hangouts/zoom and checking in with each other and as a group. We came together by staying apart and got the work done. Below are the projects students did along with their presentations I hope you enjoy them.

BUSINESS 101
BUSINESS 102
PERSONAL BUDGET PLANNING PROJECT
This Spring, the business 101 training interns learned about budgeting, communication, team building and more. For business 101 their final project interns paired in groups of two to create a Personal Budget Planning Project. The objective of this project is for interns to set up a budget that would allow them to live the type of life they would like, as well as to understand what skills and/or education they need to get there. This will include finding an apartment, finding a car, developing a budget, and finding a career that would match their income needs. This project involved doing some calculations and setting up a budget using Excel, but its main purpose is to allow them to have fun dreaming of the future while realizing what these dreams may cost. The interns also observed certain iron realities about work and what it takes to be a successful adult in the world today. It is not easy.
The interns learned It takes lots of money!

BUILDING A BUSINESS PROJECT
This Spring, the business 102 training interns learned about how to create a business plan, budgets and what it takes to start a business. Interns learned how to create a business plan, operating costs/budgets, marketing, profit/loss and communication, team building and working together. Interns learned how to pitch their business idea to their peers and IT staff. The objective of this project is for interns to set up a fake business that would allow them to learn what it takes to start a small business as a youth, as well to understand what skills and/or education they need to get there. This project involved doing some calculations and setting up a budget using Excel, but its main purpose is to allow them to have fun dreaming of starting a business while realizing what these dreams may cost. The interns also observed certain iron realities about work and what it takes to be a successful adult in the world today. It is not easy.
